Visit the EPFO member e-sewa portal.

Enter the EPF UAN, password and the captcha to Sign in.

Upon successful login, select the ‘KYC’ option under the ‘Manage’ tab.

Next, on the KYC page, Select the document type, and fill in the required details such as the Document Number and Name as per document. Click on Save to proceed.

Upon updating the KYC details in the portal, the KYC document’s status will be under the ‘KYC Pending for Approval’ section. After the employer verifies the document and approves them, the status changes to ‘Digitally Approved KYC.’

Below is the procedure to register contact details for UAN:

To register a mobile number and email ID, one has to activate their UAN. To activate UAN, visit the EPF member portal.

Under important links, click on ‘Activate UAN’.

Here you have to enter all necessary details like UAN, name, date of birth, mobile number and email ID. Then, enter the captcha verification code and click on ‘Get Authorization Pin’.

Enter the OTP and activate the UAN.

Upon activation of UAN, the mobile number and email ID mentioned will be registered.

Changing contact details of UAN

To change the mobile number and email ID for communication with EPFO, one has to follow the steps below:

Visit the EPF member portal website.

Enter the UAN, password and the captcha code and click on sign in.

After logging in, under the ‘Manage’ tab, click on ‘Contact Details’.

There are two checkboxes available for changing the email ID and mobile number. Select the checkbox as per the requirement.

Enter the new mobile number and email ID and click on ‘Get Authorization Pin’.

An OTP will be sent to the new mobile number and email ID. Enter the OTP, and the contact details will be successfully updated.

Getting KYC details updates for UAN will help reduce the dependency on the employer while moving jobs. It also helps in a smooth transition from one job to another when transferring PF amount from one account to another. To update KYC, one would need an Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, and bank account number. One would also need a driving license, voter ID, ration card and national population register number. Who approves the KYC documents and How?
