The next time you are asked by any merchant to pay any transaction charge, simply refuse and mention the RBI circular. You can also take up the issue with your bank.

Looks like certain businesses are still charging customers a 2% transaction fee for using their debit cards. This is despite an RBI circular, issued in September of 2013, asking businesses to not charge any customer for using their debit card.

Any charges if applicable, need to be paid by the merchant and not by customers.

What should I do:
