What is Fixed Deposit?

A fixed deposit (FD) is a financial investment option offered by banks, where an individual deposits a specific amount of money for a predetermined period, typically ranging from a few months to a few years. The deposited amount earns a fixed interest rate, which is generally higher than regular savings accounts. The interest rate remains constant throughout the tenure, providing stability and security to the investor. At the end of the maturity period, the initial deposit and accumulated interest are returned to the investor, making FDs a reliable way to grow savings over a fixed period.
