How are International fund of funds taxed?

International fund of funds, through which you will invest in US Equity, are taxed as non-equity funds in India. The short-term capital gains tax is at your slab rate if units are held for less than 36 months, while the long-term capital gains tax is fixed at the rate of 20%  (plus surcharge and cess as applicable) with indexation benefit if the units are held for longer than 36 months. Since these are long term investments for you – likely to be held for 10 years or longer, indexed capital gains will apply.
